Leopard Soccer Teams Honored by the NSCAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both the 2015 Wentworth Institute of Technology men's and women's soccer teams have been recognized for their success off the field as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its NSCAA Team Academic Awards for the 2015-16 academic year.

A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, making them eligible for the award. In addition, Wentworth was one of 221 schools which had both their men's and women's programs recognized. The Leopard men's soccer team posted a grade point average of 3.099 while the women's soccer team posted a grade point average of 3.217. This is the second season in a row Wentworth's men's team has been honored. The Leopard women's team earns its fourth academic award, having also been honored in 2003, 2011, and 2015.

Wentworth's men's soccer team finished the 2015 season with a 15-5-1 record, which tied the program record for victories. The Leopards advanced to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament and earned their first trip to the ECAC Tournament since 2009. Presently the Black & Gold are 7-2-4 overall and 3-0-1 in CCC play.

The Leopard women's soccer team enjoyed its finest season to date in 2015, finishing with a program-record 17 wins (17-3-2) and reaching both the CCC and ECAC semifinals. From Sept. 26 until Nov. 14 Wentworth had an unbeaten streak of 13, which included a program-record 11-game win streak. The Leopards are currently 8-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in league play.

Both teams host Nichols on Saturday.
