Winter/Spring Academic All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Teams Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A record-setting 579 Commonwealth Coast Conference student-athletes were honored on Monday morning as the league announced its spring academic all-conference team. The spring list includes participants from each of the CCC's member institutions who participated in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's golf, men's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis, and women's track and field. Competitors in the men's and women's swimming and diving and men's track and field invitationals were also honored.

In order to be recognized as a member of the Academic All-Conference Team an athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) and must also have attained sophomore academic status.

Included among the honorees are the 10 winners of the CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete awards in their respective sports. Three of the senior scholar-athletes on this spring's list came from Wentworth with Tim Elrick (Plymouth, Mass.) being recognized in baseball, Sam Knollmeyer (Hampton, N.H.) in men's basketball, and Rachel Willcutt (Tilton, N.H.) in softball. For the year the Leopards had an impressive five senior scholar-athletes spanning the three seasons. Additionally, Knollmeyer was also one of 11 academic all-conference honorees that were major award winners in their sports this season as he repeated as the men's basketball defensive player of the year.

Overall there were 44 Academic All-CCC members who were also All-CCC First Teamers. Additionally, 34 Second Team and 33 Third Team performers were recognized.

Wentworth had 36 student-athletes earn 38 Academic All-CCC honors with senior Haley Sabino (Topsfield, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Magasic (West Milford, N.J) earning honors in both women's basketball and women's lacrosse. This is an increase from 2016-2017 when the Leopards had 34 student-athletes earn 35 academic all-conference honors.
