BOSTON, Mass. - Jackie Clark, former Assistant
Athletic Trainer at the University of Southern Maine, has been
named the Head Athletic Trainer at Wentworth Institute of
Technology, effective immediately. Clark replaces Ralph
Evans, who retired this past May after 23 years of service
to the Leopard student-athletes.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie Clark as
our next head athletic trainer,” said director of athletics,
Angel Ayres. “She comes to us with a
tremendous amount of energy, vision, and passion. These attributes
will assist her as she revamps our sports medicine department. She
will play a significant role in keeping our student-athletes
healthy and educated. I look forward to working alongside her as
she brings a great work ethic and organization to our
department.”
Clark spent four years (2009-2013) at Southern Maine where she
assisted in the coverage and care of student-athletes on 22 varsity
teams, including serving as the athletic trainer for the field
hockey, men’s ice hockey, and nationally ranked baseball
teams. Additionally, she organized and conducted wrestling
hydration testing and assisted the compliance office with the
completion of medical hardship waiver forms. During her tenure at
Southern Maine she was also an adjunct faculty member in the
University’s Department of Exercise, Health, and Sport
Sciences.
Prior to arriving at USM, Clark spent two years in Florida while
obtaining her Master’s degree in athletic training, which she
received from the University of Florida in 2009. During the
2007-2008 academic year she was the Head Athletic Trainer at
Columbia High School in Lake City and spent the following year
working as an athletic trainer at Gainesville High School and was a
teaching assistant at the University of Florida.
A 2007 graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelor’s
degree in athletic training, Clark was a four-year member of the
Pride’s swimming and diving team and helped the squad to four
straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic
Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
Clark holds professional memberships with the National Athletic
Trainers Association (NATA), National Strength and Conditioning
Association (NSCA), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine
(NASM).
“I am excited to be a part of the Wentworth Athletic
Department,” said Clark. “I am looking forward to
working with Wentworth’s student-athletes and staff to help
take the sports medicine department to the next level.”
