Mailman Named Division III National Co-Hitter of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – Weekly awards keep piling up for Jake Mailman (Medway, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team as the sophomore catcher was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division III Co-Hitter of the Week. The award was voted on by a panel of Division III members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and includes games played from March 11-17. This marks the first time a Leopard baseball player has earn this honor.

Mailman, who was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week, ECAC Division III New England Co-Player of the Week, and earned a spot on the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week, helped the Leopards to a 6-2 record by batting .655 (19-for-29) with 15 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles, one triple and a stolen base to go along with an on-base percentage of .697 and a slugging percentage of .897. He batted safely and drove in or scored at least one run in each of Wentworth's eight games. Among his six multiple-hit games, Mailman collected two four-hit games, going 8-for-9 in a doubleheader sweep of Colby-Sawyer in which he drove in seven runs.

Through 10 games for the 8-2 Leopards, Mailman is batting .571 (20-for-35) with five doubles, a triple, two stolen bases, 10 runs scored and 17 RBI. He has an on-base percentage of .610 and a slugging percentage of .771.
