SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After winning his first two collegiate starts, freshman Robby Sheldon (Dover, N.H.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for games played from March 9-15.
Sheldon posted a 2-0 record with a 1.54 earned run average and struck out nine batters in 11 2/3 innings of work. In his first start, an 8-2 win over Westfield State, He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and would allow two runs (one earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out three batters. He followed that up with six strong innings of work in a 10-1 win over Colby-Sawyer. In that game he scattered five hits and allowed one run while walking a pair and striking out six.
Wentworth completed its spring break trip at 7-3 and is tentatively scheduled to play at Fitchburg State on Saturday.
