Temte, Sheldon Earn CCC Weekly Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After posting a 2-0 week, two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team have been recognized by the Commonwealth Coast Conference with weekly awards. Sophomore shortstop Jimmy Temte (Northborough, Mass.) earned the league's player of the week while freshman Robby Sheldon (Dover, N.H.) was tabbed as the league's rookie of the week.

Temte batted .571 (4-for-7) in the doubleheader sweep of Roger Williams while hitting a pair of home runs, scoring three runs, and driving in three runs. In a 7-5 win he was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run which put the Leopards on top early in the contest. His sixth inning home run in the nightcap provided the only run of the game to lift the Leopards to a 1-0 win.

Starting 11 of the 12 games in which he has played, Temte is batting .265 (9-for-34) with nine runs scored, a pair of stolen bases, a team-high four home runs, and eight RBI.

Picking up his second rookie of the week honor this season, Sheldon pitched six shutout innings in the 1-0 win over Roger Williams. He allowed for hits and struck out five batters in the process.

Sheldon is 3-0 with a 1.02 earned run average as he had yielded just two earned runs in 17 and two-third innings of work. Over that span he has struck out 14 batters and opponents are hitting just .188 against him.

Sitting at 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the CCC, the Leopards host Endicott on Friday afternoon.
