Obin Named Cranberry Baseball League Pitcher of the Year

BOSTON, Mass. – Rising Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball senior Ryan Obin (Plymouth, Mass.) has been named the 2019 Cranberry Baseball League Pitcher of the Year as announced by the league earlier this week.

Playing for the Plymouth Brewers, a first-year entrant into the league, Obin posted a 4-2 record with a 1.13 earned run average in six appearances. In 43.1 innings of work, he struck out 45 batters, including fanning 11 in a win over Rockland on June 2. He was recently named the league's pitcher of the week after throwing a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts against Rockland on July 9.

Obin is coming off a junior season with the Black & Gold which saw him make nine appearances – all starts – and post a 3-5 record with a 3.73 earned run average. In 50.2 innings of work, he struck out 44 batters.

Now in its 60th season, the Cranberry Baseball League has provided a venue for the area's best amateur, collegiate and former professional players, coaches and umpires in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A wooden bat league, the Cranberry Baseball League is a member of the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) and competes in the "Stan Musial" Division.
