BEVERLY, Mass. – Following a 7-2 overall stretch in their opening week of play, the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Monday afternoon as freshman Nigel Cross (Worcester, Mass.) was named CCC Rookie of the Week. The award is for games played March 4-10.
Cross went 2-0 on the mound across the Black & Gold's season-opening week, only surrendering five hits across the wins versus Martin Luther (8-1) and Alfred (26-0) and averaging 8.18 strikeouts per nine innings, a .82 ERA, and a .91 WHIP.
The Leopards look to continue their four-game win streak at home versus Rivier on Wednesday.
