Colon Earns CCC Rookie of the Week Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second time this season, freshman guard Jherson Colon (Boston, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team has earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors. Colon earned conference accolades for his play during the week of January 5-12.

In a 2-1 week for the Leopards, Colon averaged 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 60.6 percent (20-of-33) from the floor and 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from behind the arc. Colon scored 15 points and had four assists in a 74-40 win at UNE before recording a career-high 23 points in a 71-67 loss to Eastern Nazarene. He ended the week with a 17-point performance in a 44-37 win over Roger Williams.

Colon has started three of the 10 games in which he has played for the 7-6 (4-2 CCC) Leopards. He leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game to go along with 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game. Wentworth returns to action Wednesday at Western New England.
