Romich Notches Third Player of the Week Honor

BOSTON, Mass. – For the third time this season, senior guard Kyle Romich (Groton, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week. Romich earns the honor after helping the Leopards to a 2-0 week in games played from Feb. 15-21.

Romich put up huge scoring numbers this week as he scored 32 and 27 points, against Endicott and Roger Williams, respectively, to average 29.5 ppg on 21-for-38 (55.3 percent) shooting. In a 75-72 overtime win against the Gulls, he added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals to go along with his game-high scoring output. One of those assists came on the game-winning basket with 1.3 seconds remaining in the extra session. In the Leopards' 85-69 win over the Hawks he collected three boards and gave out three assists while shooting 64.7 percent (11-for-17) from the floor including five three-pointers (5-for-6). He was also 9-for-10 from the free throw line over the course of the two contests.

For the season Romich has started all 25 games for the 15-10 Leopards and is averaging 18.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor, which includes 40.8 percent from behind the three-point arc. His three-point field goal percentage ranks third in the conference while his 62 three pointers are fourth among conference players.

Winners of a season-high four games in a row, Wentworth enters the CCC Tournament with a 15-10 overall record and finished the league schedule with a program-best 13 wins (13-5). The Leopards earned the conference's second seed for the first time since 2011 and will host seventh-seeded University of New England in a quarterfinal round game on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
