BOSTON, Mass. – For the second time in the last three seasons, two neighboring institutions will do battle on the hardwood as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team will square off against Division I Northeastern University on Sunday, November 12. The game will be played at historic Matthews Arena with tip-off slated for 4:00 p.m.

Because this game occurs prior to the NCAA Division III regulation stating that regular-season basketball games can not be played prior to November 15, the contest will count towards the Huskies' record, however, the game will be considered an exhibition game for the Leopards. It will mark the second game of the season for Northeastern, which opens its season two nights earlier at Boston University. Wentworth will be coming off its traditional scrimmage against Babson earlier in the week.

This game marks the fourth time since 2011 that Wentworth will face a Division I opponent. In addition to visiting the Huskies on November 17, 2015, the Leopards played at Texas-Pan American (now Texas Rio Grande Valley) on December 15, 2011, and at Boston University on December 29, 2014.

Wentworth will open its 25-game regular season schedule on November 15 at Framingham State before heading to Middlebury College on November 17-18 for the Middlebury Tip-Off Classic where the Black & Gold will face New England College on November 17 and either Middlebury or Fitchburg State on November 18.

With 18 of the Leopards' 25 contests coming against Commonwealth Coast Conference foes, the Leopards open conference play on November 29 at Curry.

Last season the Black & Gold finished 14-13 overall and were the number five seed in the CCC Tournament. After defeating fourth-seeded Gordon, 82-75, in the quarterfinals, Wentworth fell to top-seeded and eventual conference champion Nichols, 83-74, in the semifinals. It marked the fourth straight season the Leopards had advanced to at least the semifinals of the conference tournament.
