NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – In its final tuneup before the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team competed at the Hampton Inn Classic, which was played at the Allendale Country Club in North Dartmouth, Mass. The tournament's first round was canceled due to heavy rain that blanketed the area on Friday, making it an 18-hole event.
The Leopards shot a 337 on the Par 72, 6,703-yard course which placed them 16th among the 20 teams in the event. Host UMass Dartmouth won by shooting a 305, with Nichols (312), Amherst (315), Tufts (315), and Husson (316) rounding out the top five schools.
Sophomore Robbie Wells Rogers (Colchester, Vt.) finished tied for 40th overall as he shot an 82 on the day. Senior John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) finished tied for 52nd, carding an 83, while sophomores Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) and Pat Sullivan (Needham, Mass.) tied for 69th after shooting an 86.
