WARWICK, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule by playing in the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational at the Par 72, 6.458-yard Valley Country Club. The annual, two-day event was shortened to just 18 holes on Friday due to Saturday's inclement weather.
As a team the Leopards carded a 357, which placed them 16th in the 16-team field. The host Anchormen took home the team title with a 315, followed by Worcester State (317), UMass Dartmouth (318), Nichols (319), and Johnson & Wales (320). Worcester State's Mike Jezierski took home medalist honors with a 75.
Freshman Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) finished tied for 17th in the 81-player field after shooting a 79. Junior Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) finished tied for 64th with an 87, sophomore Austin Enroth (Dartmouth, Mass.) was 75th with a 95, and sophomore Enrique Arrieche (Caracas, Venezuela) was 78th with a 96. Senior John Doran (Weymouth, Mass.) also competed, carding a 98 to finish 78th.
Wentworth is at the Hampton Inn Invitational next weekend.
