GROTON, Conn. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team kicked of the 2017-2018 season by defending its crown at the Mitchell Invitational. The Leopards shot a 320 as a team to defeat the host Mariners (351) and Albertus Magnus (404) at the Par 71, 6,562-yard Shennecossett Golf Course.
Sophomore Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) took home medalist honors as he shot a career-best 72 to pace the 18-player field. Senior Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) shot an 80, which was third overall, sophomore Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) carded an 83 which was good for a fourth-place finish while senior Austin Enroth (Dartmouth, Mass) was fifth with an 85. Junior Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) shot an 87 on the day.
The Leopards are at Emmanuel with Suffolk and Mitchell on Tuesday at George Wright Golf Club in Boston.
