Golf Places Third at Emmanuel Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team placed three of its scoring golfers among the top 10, including junior Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) who notched his second straight top-five finish as the Leopards finished third at the Emmanuel Invitational. The event was played at the Par 70 William J. Devine Golf Course in Boston's historic Franklin Park.

The Leopards shot a 314 for the tournament, which featured a weather delay of over an hour as storms rolled through the Boston area, which was good for a third-place finish. Suffolk (303) finished first with Mitchell (311) coming in second. The host Saints were fourth (347).

L'Italien tied for third among the 20-player field, carding a five-over 75. Freshman Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) placed seventh with a 77, while senior Brian Bak (Chicopee, Mass.) was ninth with an 80. In his first collegiate event, freshman Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) finished 12th with an 82. Sophomore Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) completed five top-15 finishes for Wentworth with an 85.

Wentworth will compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference qualifier on Wednesday, September 19. The top four teams from that event advance to the 2019 CCC Championship in late April.
