Golf Takes Tri-Match at Eastern Nazarene

HINGHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team tuned up for the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference Fall Qualifier by finishing first at a tri-match hosted by Eastern Nazarene College. The Leopards shot a 327 to defeat Mitchell (347) and the host Lions (393). The match was played at South Shore Country Club.

THE BASICS

  • Wentworth won its second consecutive tri-match, which included defeating Mitchell twice.
  • All five Leopard golfers finished in the top 10 for the second event in a row.
  • Sophomores Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) and Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) as well as senior Sean L'Italien each carded an 80 to tie for third.
  • Junior Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) placed ninth with an 87 to round out Wentworth's top four golfers.
  • Senior Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) finished 10th with a 93.

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth heads to the Country Club of Wilbraham for the CCC Qualifier on Thursday. The top four schools out of the seven-team field advance to the CCC Championship to be held April 25-26, 2020.
