Golf Wraps up Play at Farmingdale State Fall Invitational

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team completed play at the two-day, 36-hole Farmingdale State Fall Invitational by shooting a two-day total of 652 and finishing 12th. Sunday's round of 333 came on the heels of a 319 during Saturday's opening round. The event was contested at Bethpage State Park on the challenging red course.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The 12-team field, which featured five teams who competed in the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, was led by Rosemont, the only team to break 300 in the tournament. The Ravens shot 601 (303-298) to defeat host Farmingdale (608) and Johnson & Wales (610). Rosemont's Michael Lange and Johnson & Wales' Mac Patch were the tournament medalists with a 143 (+3).
  • Leopard sophomore Nicholas Kurtz (Dover, N.H.) was Wentworth's top finisher, shooting a 158 (78-80) to tie for 25th. Junior Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) tied for 40th as he finished +23 (163; 81-82). Senior Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) shot a 165 (80-85) to finish tied for 47th, while classmate Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) was tied for 50th after he shot 166 (80-86).
  • Sophomore Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) finished with a 169 on the weekend after shooting 83-86.
