Wentworth Skates Past Assumption, 6-1

BOSTON, Mass. – Six different players tallied goals, including junior forward Mike Paglino (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) who added a pair of assists, while freshman forward Matthew Dozois (Manotick, Ont.) assisted on three goals to pace the Wentworth hockey team to a 6-1 win over Assumption in the third place game of the 46th Annual Codfish Bowl, played at the University of Massachusetts Boston's Clark Athletic Center.

The Leopards, who scored six times for the second straight game, tallied three goals in the first period, beginning with a marker from freshman forward Cory Lillie (East Hampton, N.Y.) at 14:54, which was assisted by junior forward Casey Shade (Anchorage, Alaska) and sophomore forward Anthony Principato (Holmdel, N.J.).  Dozois and junior forward Forrest Ellis (Pembroke, N.H.) set up freshman forward Cameron Gibson (Valencia, Calif.) on the power play at 16:11, increasing the lead to 2-0.  With 1:30 left in the period, Wentworth upped the lead to 3-0 on a goal from sophomore defenseman Dylan Barbieri (Plainville, Mass.), which was set up by Paglino and Dozois.

Assumption cut the lead to 3-1 when Mike Janson scored on the power play from junior forward Pat O'Kane (Hollis, N.H.) and sophomore Joe Fiamini (Arlington, Mass.) at 3:33.  The Leopards countered a freshman defenseman Lawton McCracken (Colborne, Ont.) goal at 11:15 and a Paglino marker at 16:04.  Wentworth got the game's only goal of the third period when Dozois and Paglino set up Ellis with 3:43 left.

Freshman Chris Azzano (Oshawa, Ont.) turned aside 22 shots to pick up the win while Assumption freshman netminder Bobby Bowden (Springfield, Mass.) made 39 saves.  Wentworth outshot the Greyhounds, 45-23.

With the win Wentworth improves to 6-4-2 and is at fifth-ranked Bowdoin on Tuesday (Jan. 4).  Assumption dropped its fifth straight to stand at 5-7-0 and is at Westfield State that same night.
