MILTON, Mass. – Junior Adam Frank's (Clarkston, Mich.) goal with 3:25 remaining in regulation forced overtime and neither team was able to score in the extra session as Wentworth and Curry skated to a 1-all tie in ECAC Northeast action at the Max Ulin Rink.
The Leopards sit at 4-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in ECAC Northeast play while the Colonels are 3-4-1 (2-2-1).
Curry jumped on the board just 2:35 into the contest, taking advantage of a Wentworth penalty as Sophomore James Murphy (Malden, Mass.) received the puck wide open in front of the net and one-timed it past junior goaltender Joel Miller (Calgary, Alta.). Senior Jordan Reed (Ajax, Ontario) and junior Brian White (Santa Ana, Calif.) were credited with the assists. Murphy's marker was the lone score of the first period while shots were even at 9-all.
The second period saw no scoring, however the Leopards held a 15-9 shot advantage, including a pair of shots coming on the power play.
Sophomore Brett Sinclair (St. Catherine's, Ont.) turned aside the first 40 Leopard shots he faced and appeared to be on the way to the shutout victory until Frank knotted the score at a goal apiece. After being set up by juniors Stephen McManus (Westwood, Mass.) and Mike Cox (Westborough, Mass.), Frank let loose a slap shot from in front of the net that sailed over Sinclair's glove.
The Leopards held a 3-1 shot advantage in the extra session, however could not score as the two teams played to the fourth tie in the 34 meetings between the two rivals.
Junior Joel Miller (Calgary, Alta.) made 21 saves while Sinclair made 44 stops. Wentworth held a 45-22 shot advantage for the contest, including an 18-3 margin in the third period.
Wentworth will play in the Bowdoin/Colby Face-Off next weekend as the Leopards will play at Bowdoin on Saturday and Colby on Sunday. Curry is idle until December 4 when it is at UMass Dartmouth.
