BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Brian Farkas (Shoreline, Wash.) netted two goals to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology hockey team defeat Becker 7-2 in ECAC Northeast action Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.

Snapping a two-game losing streak the Leopards now stand at 10-10-2 overall and are 5-5-1 in conference play while the Hawks fall to 4-18-0 (0-11-0).

Becker netted the first goal of the afternoon just over two minutes into the game to gain the early advantage. A collision in the neutral zone allowed freshman Corey Sherman (Hilton, N.Y.) to breakaway in the offensive zone and score in from of the crease. A boarding penalty against the Hawks gave the Leopards a power-play opportunity two minutes later. Freshman Jake McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) fired a shot from the point that was tipped in by freshman Brian Farkas (Shoreline, Wash.) to tie the game at one. Four minutes later, Wentworth took the lead thanks to a McDonough goal assisted by freshman Nick Newman (Saugus, Calif.) and sophomore Chris Domsodi (Kirkland, Que.)

Much of the second period was scoreless until freshman Chris Sattler (East Longmeadow, Mass.) extended the Leopard lead to two goals. A two-on-two rush resulted in Sattler firing a wrist shot from the slot to the top right corner to put the Black and Gold up 3-1.

The Black and Gold offense brought the offense in the third period, as they scored four goals off 17 shots. Sophomore Connor Crowe (Galloway, N.J.) scored the period's first goal with an even strength goal at 7:18. Senior Mike Domsodi (Kirkland, Que.) scored the Leopards' fifth goal and Farkas and freshman Ryan Sullivan (Whately, Mass.) added the final two goals, respectively. Sophomore Edward Osowski (Montclair, N.J.) scored Becker's second goal on the power-play at 12:53 in the period.

Junior Joel Miller (Calgary, Alta.) made 19 saves for Wentworth while junior Greg Hussey (Medford, Mass.) made 35 saves in 57:00 of work. Freshman Eric Sugrue (Naples, Fla.) made two saves over the final three minutes. Wentworth held a 44-21 shot advantage.

Wentworth plays host to conference foe Curry on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m., while Becker returns home on Thursday night at 8 p.m., as the Hawks take on Suffolk.
