Miller Records Second Straight Shutout as Hockey Ties Johnson & Wales

BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth Institute of Technology senior Joel Miller (Calgary, Alta.) made 35 saves to record his second straight shutout as the Leopards ran their unbeaten streak to three with a 0-0 tie against Johnson & Wales in an ECAC Northeast contest played at Walter Brown Arena.

The Leopards stand at 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in league play while the Wildcats stand at 2-0-2 (1-0-2).

Johnson & Wales held a 15-13 shot advantage after the first period and would win 19 of 27 face-offs in the first 20 minutes. Wentworth had a pair of power plays, which included a five-on-three for 1:44 and had five shots on the man advantage.

In the second period the Wildcats had a five-on-three advantage in the early going, however could only muster one shot. Wentworth had an 8-6 shot advantage in the second period.

Both teams would have chances in the third period and Johnson & Wales had a 13-7 shot advantage, however neither team would score, sending the game into overtime. In the extra frame Wentworth had a 3-1 shot advantage.

Junior Joey Ballmer (Kalamazoo, Mich.) stopped 31 shots for the Wildcats. Johnson & Wales had a 35-31 shot advantage for the game.

Wentworth continues league play on Saturday at Endicott while Johnson & Wales is idle until Nov. 19 when the Wildcats host Endicott.
