Suffolk Rallies Past Hockey

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Connor Henry's (Trumbull, Conn.) goal at 8:55 of the second period snapped a 1-all tie and helped to lift the Suffolk University ice hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest Saturday night.

With the win the Rams improve to 2-2-1 overall and pick up their first CCC win (1-2-1). The Leopards fall to 1-5-0 (1-3-0).

Wentworth got on the board first as sophomore Ethan Weiss (Troy, Mich.) netted a power-play goal from freshman Dakoda Menslage (Orleans, Mass.) and junior Jake McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.) at 11:42.

Suffolk got the equalizer with two minutes left in the open frame as sophomore Justin Holliday (Stow, Ohio) scored from classmates Connor Parent (Danvers, Mass.) and Tommy Bishop (Chelmsford, Mass.). Shots were even at 13-all after the first period.

The Leopards had a 12-4 shot advantage in the second period, however it would be the Rams who would provide the only goal on Henry's game-winning marker which was set up by Parent and junior Luke Miller (Lancaster, Calif.).

Wentworth had a 14-8 shot advantage in the third period but were unable to get the equalizer. The Leopards pulled junior Ryan Hubbard (West Bridgewater, Mass.) with 1:38 remaining for an extra attacker however were unable to get a shot attempt.

Hubbard finished with 23 saves. Sophomore Michael Levine (Clarendon Hill, Ill.) made 38 saves for Suffolk, including saving the final 29 shots he faced. Wentworth had a 39-25 shot advantage.

Wentworth hosts Endicott Thursday night.
