HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth jumped on the board at the 8:10 mark of the opening frame when senior Georgy Gorodetsky (Yekaterinburg, Russia) put home a shot from inside the right face-off circle, which was assisted by seniors Adam Tracey (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Nate Chase (Plainfield, Ill.). Sophomore Tyler Carangelo (Hamden, Conn.) won the ensuing faceoff and, after gaining possession back from the Leopards, skated along the right side and sent a pass behind the net to sophomore George Sennott (North Andover, Mass), who put a shot inside the left post.
  • Sennott's goal began a three-goal spurt for the Seahawks, with Boutoussov finding the back of the net twice. At 1:51 of the second period, he was set up by junior Dylan Carabia (Sebastian, Fla.) to give Salve Regina a 2-1 lead, while classmate Danny Eruzione (Winthrop, Mass.) broke out of the zone and sent a pass to Boutoussov who went in for the shorthanded tally at 7:06.
  • The Leopards cut the lead to 3-2 when sophomore Joey O'Leary (Boston, Mass.) scored on the power play at 8:12 of the third period from sophomore Jake McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) and freshman Alec Taillon (Terrebonne, Que.). One minute and 42 seconds later, Salve Regina increased its lead back to two goals when junior John McLean (North Andover, Mass.) put home a rebound which was assisted by sophomore J.J. Layton (Peabody, Mass.) and Sennott.
  • Wentworth pulled back within a goal with 3:48 left in regulation when McKenelley scored from senior Connor Busch (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) and O'Leary.
  • With 57 seconds left, sophomore Thomas Draper (Binghamton, N.Y.) was pulled for an extra attacker. The Leopards were only able to get one shot attempt off, which went wide. Freshman Carter Stephenson (West Vancouver, B.C) saved the hosts from being down two goals when he stepped in front of the empty net and cleared a shot attempt away.
  • Draper finished with 37 saves while sophomore Tony Rehm (Madison, Wisc.) made 29 saves. Salve Regina had a 41-32 shot advantage.
