Men's Lacrosse Team Welcomes Newest Member

BOSTON, Mass. – On Sunday, October 14, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse program welcomed its newest member as nine-year old Thomas Archibald was formally introduced to the team and coaching staff in a short ceremony that took place on campus at Blount Auditorium.

Thomas joins the men's lacrosse program through The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of children with pediatric brain tumors and other medical conditions. Thomas has been a regular at practice and other team activities this fall.

"Thomas is such a wonderful young man, whose energy and smile touched our players and staff instantly," said head coach Dan Russo. "We can already see the impact we are both having on each other and we are very lucky to have him with us. Friends of Jaclyn has such a strong mission and we are fortunate to be a part of their cause and to facilitate lifelong friendships through athletics."

During the ceremony Thomas and his family were recognized by the program before representatives from The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation facilitated the adoption ceremony.

"Thomas's presence has really put things in perspective for the players," said senior co-captain Tyler Forthofer (Glastonbury, Conn.).

Junior co-captain Chris Kipp (Scarborough, Maine) added, "Being around someone who is going through so much makes you step back and realize what we are doing is a privilege and to appreciate everything you have."
