CCC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Pairings Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott College has earned the top seed for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse championship, which begins with first-round round games on Saturday, April 27.

The Gulls (12-5 overall) claimed the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a 7-1 record in CCC play.  Top-seeded Endicott and second-seeded Western New England University (9-6 overall, 7-1 CCC) will receive byes in the tournament's opening round.

With Endicott and Western New England posting identical 7-1 conference records, CCC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the top seed.  Endicott was awarded the number one seed by virtue of a 13-12 victory over WNE on April 24.

Two first-round matches will be played on Saturday, April 27.  Third-seeded Roger Williams University (8-6, 6-2) will host sixth-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology (10-5, 3-5) at 1:00 p.m. in Bristol, R.I., while fourth-seeded University of New England (12-4, 6-2) will host fifth-seeded Salve Regina University (7-9, 4-4) at 1:00 p.m. in Biddeford, Maine.

Winners of these two contests will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, May 1.  Top-seeded Endicott will host the winner of the UNE vs. Salve Regina game, while second-seeded Western New England will host the winner of the Roger Williams vs. Wentworth game.  Both semifinal matches are tentatively scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

In addition to determining the top seed, CCC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the number three seed, as both Roger Williams and University of New England compiled identical 6-2 conference records.  RWU received the number three seed based on a 12-6 victory over UNE on March 30.

Tournament action culminates with the CCC championship game on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 p.m. The CCC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

The complete tournament schedule appears below.  All times are tentative and subject to change.

Wentworth is making its first CCC Tournament appearance since the 2009 season and is seeking its first CCC Tournament win since the 2004 season. The Leopards and Hawks have met seven times in the post-season, most recently in 2009. Roger Williams holds a 6-1 edge in playoff meetings with three of the seven previous meetings being decided by a total of four goals. This is the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams with Roger Williams holding a 21-3 advantage, including taking an 11-7 win on April 20.
