Men's Lacrosse Suffers Setback at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman Jack McCormick (Hudson, Ohio) scored a team-high four goals, including three during a 10-1 Colorado College run as the host Tigers defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 13-7, in non-conference men's lacrosse action.

With the win Colorado College improves to 3-2 on the season while Wentworth falls to 0-2.

The Leopards got on the board just 1:50 into the contest when sophomore Nick Parent (Windham, N.H.) fed junior Michael Cushera (Waltham, Mass.) to give Wentworth an early lead. However, that lead would last less than a minute as Colorado College with 12:18 left to start a 6-0 run and keep Wentworth off the board for a span of 19:16 until junior Ryan Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) scored with 8:54 left in the second quarter.

Colorado College scored the final three goals of the half, including one by McCormick to give him a hat trick, and took a 9-2 lead into the break.

The Tigers opened the second half by tallying a goal with 13:30 left to extend their lead to 11-2 before Wentworth netted his second of the game. Sophomore Alec Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) would score a goal sandwiched between two Colorado College markers and the hosts led, 12-4, after three quarters.

The Leopards outscored the Tigers in the fourth quarter by a 3-1 margin with senior Steve Glover (Marstons Mills, Mass.) scoring all of the Wentworth's goals and junior Coakley adding assists on each goal.

Glover finished the game with a team-high five goals while Coakley had a goal and four assists. Freshman Ty Trebbe (Wilbraham, Mass.) had a team-high six ground balls and also was 8-for-17 at the face-off X. Senior Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) made 11 saves and picked up five ground balls. Colorado College held a 39-32 shot advantage and the Leopards had a 35-33 ground ball advantage.

Wentworth travels to Johnson & Wales on Tuesday evening for a non-conference contest against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.
