Men's Lacrosse Earns Number Six Seed in CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott College has earned the top seed for the 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship, which begins with a pair of opening round games on Saturday, April 25.

Ranked 10th in the most recent USILA Division III Coaches Poll, the Gulls (13-3 overall) claimed the top seed in the conference tournament after posting a perfect 8-0 record in CCC play. Top-seeded Endicott and second-seeded Western New England University (11-5 overall, 7-1 CCC) will receive byes in the tournament's first round.

Two first round matches will be played on Saturday, April 25. Third-seeded Roger Williams University (12-4, 6-2) will host sixth-seeded Wentworth Institute of Technology (9-7, 3-5) at 4:30 p.m. in Bristol, R.I., while fourth-seeded Salve Regina University (6-6, 4-4), will host fifth-seeded Gordon College (7-9, 4-4) at 1:00 p.m. in Middletown, R.I.

Winners of the two first round matches will advance to the semifinal round on Wednesday, April 29. Top-seeded Endicott will host the winner of the Salve Regina vs. Gordon game in Beverly, Mass, while second-seeded Western New England will host the winner of the Roger Williams vs. Wentworth game in Springfield, Mass. Start times will be announced.

CCC tiebreaking procedures were used to determine the fourth, fifth and sixth seeds in the tournament. For the fourth seed, both Salve Regina and Gordon posted identical 4-4 conference records. The Seahawks earned the edge based on a 12-9 victory in the teams' matchup on March 25. For the sixth and final seed in the tournament field, both Wentworth and University of New England compiled identical 3-5 CCC marks, but the advantage went to the Leopards by virtue of an 11-10 double-overtime victory on March 25.

Tournament action culminates with the CCC championship game on Saturday, May 2 at a time to be determined.

The CCC tournament champion will earn an automatic berth in the upcoming 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Wentworth and Roger Williams will be meeting for the 28th time since the series started in 1997. On April 11 the Hawks defeated the Leopards 19-7 in Bristol, R.I., and have won 13 series meetings in a row. This will be second time in the last three seasons and ninth time overall the two teams will meet in the postseason with the Hawks holding a 7-1 edge. In the 2013 tournament Roger Williams won 9-8 in overtime. Wentworth is 0-14 all-time at Roger Williams.
