NEWTON, Mass. - Junior Chad Coehlo's (Salem, Mass.) goal with 2:08 remaining in overtime lifted Mount Ida College over the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team, 10-9, in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Mount Ida improves to 2-2, while Wentworth drops to 0-4.

Mount Ida took a 3-1 lead after one thanks to two goals from senior Lucas Stralka (East Greenwich, R.I.), while Wentworth got on the board with an unassisted goal by junior Ryan Natusch (Madison, Conn.). Senior Nick Parent (Windham, N.H.) and Natusch pieced together a four-goal attack, tallying two goals each, in the second quarter to give the Leopards the 5-4 lead entering halftime.

Wentworth carried its momentum from the second quarter into the third as the Leopards took an 8-6 lead at the end of the third. The Leopards kicked off the second with a man-up goal by freshman Jack Zaylor (Hanover, Mass.) that was followed up goals from senior Tim Parlato (Needham, Mass.) and junior Sean Farmer (Billerica, Mass.).

However, the Leopards allowed the Mustangs to creep right back. The Mustangs tallied three more goals in the final stanza, including two back-to-back goals from sophomore Marcus Donahue (Braintree, Mass.). The Zaylor-Paradis duo went to work again as Zaylor's goal put Wentworth up 9-8 with 7:38 remaining in the fourth. Junior Wyatt Sullivan (Arlington, Mass.) his game-tying goal came with 3:19 left in regulation.

At 2:08 of overtime, Coehlo was the hero for Mount Ida. With the score squared up at 9-9, his goal put the Mustangs on top 10-9 to give them a home-opener triumph over the Leopards.

Sophomore Cam Hayward (Derry, N.H.) improved to 2-2 as he made 16 saves through 61:52. Stralka led the Mustang offense with four goals and three caused turnovers, followed up by three goals from Donahue. Sophomore Shayne Rix (Kingston, Mass.) also registered three caused turnovers.

Sophomore Adam Dufault (Lexington, Mass.) took the loss, saving 16 shots. Natusch led the Leopards' offense with three goals, followed two goals each from Zaylor and Parent. Paradis registered three assists, while freshman Sean Brennan (Stony Point, N.Y.) had four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Wentworth held the advantage in shots (45-34), while Mount Ida held the 36-35 advantage in ground balls. Wentworth went 1-for-6 in man-up opportunities, while Mount Ida went 3-for-6.

The Leopards host MIT on Tuesday.
