Rowing Fares Well at Head of the Housatonic Regatta

DERBY, Conn. – Racing in its second regatta of the 2014-2015 season, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's rowing team competed at the Head of the Housatonic regatta.

The Leopards had a successful day, bringing home a second and third place finish in the pair of four boat races they competed in.

In the men's open pair race, sophomore Jake Rosser (Ivyland, Pa.) and junior Fabian Torres (Danvers, Mass.) finished fifth with a time of 18:40.

Freshman coxswain Tyler Springhetti (South Easton, Mass.), sophomore Matt Pusateri (West Boylston, Mass.), sophomore Frank McCarthy (South Hamilton, Mass.), freshman Chase Manning (Franklin, Mass.), and sophomore Ty Castle (Oquossoc, Maine) competed in the Collegiate Novice Men's Fours and finished third with a time of 18:20.

Wentworth's entry into the Men's Collegiate (Non-IRA) Fours race finished third as senior coxswain Isabella Grassetti (Monson, Mass.), junior Ben Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior Alex Schwarzkopf (Old Saybrook, Conn.), junior Tucker Barrett (Leominster, Mass.), and freshman Matthew West (Hingham, Mass.) finished second with a time of 15:58. The Leopards edged Fordham, which finished third with a time of 15:59.

The Black & Gold will wrap up its fall schedule next weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Boston's Charles River.
