Men's Soccer Earns NCAA Regional Ranking

Men's Soccer Earns NCAA Regional Ranking

BOSTON, Mass. – For the first time in program history, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team has earned a regional ranking by the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Committee. In the first of three published rankings, the Leopards are ranked 11th with an 11-3 record.

Through 14 games this season Wentworth's 11 wins are most than the previous three seasons combined (seven) and it marks the first time since the 2009 campaign the Leopards have won more than 10 games in a season. That year Wentworth tied a program record with 15 wins, advanced to the Commonwealth Coast Conference championship game, and won the ECAC Division III New England Championship.

In the first ranking, 12 teams from the region are ranked and the regional advisory committee bases its ranking off of not only winning percentage, but a weighted formula containing opponent winning percentage and opponent's opponent winning percentage to calculate an in-division strength of schedule number. Through games of October 18, Wentworth's SOS is .512. Two of the Leopards' previous opponents this season are also ranked – UMass Boston (fifth) and Gordon (eighth).

Wentworth is at Endicott this afternoon at 4:00.
