Martins, Chomicki Lift Men's Soccer Past Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senor Noah Martins (Dartmouth, Mass.) netted the game's only goal and junior Philip Chomicki (Dorchester, Mass.) made three saves as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team edged Lesley University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.

Wentworth controlled play from the outset, however was unable to find the back of the net. The Leopards had a great chance in the 30th minute, however Martins' header bounced off the post to keep the game scoreless. Junior Griffin Price (Allendale, N.J.) nearly put the Black & Gold ahead, 1-0, in the 40th minute but was denied by junior Patrick Coleman's (West Hartford, Conn.) diving kick save. Off the ensuing corner, Price had another chance but his shot was saved by Corcoran as well.

Martins put home his second marker of the season with 23:38 remaining in regulation as he gained possession off of a failed clearing pass and dribbled through a defender to the top of the box. His shot went to the upper right side of the net, eluding Corcoran's outstretched arms.

Chomicki evens his record to 1-1-1 and picks up his first clean sheet of the season. Two of his saves came in the first half. Corcoran made 12 stops, with seven coming in the first half. Wentworth had a 23-7 shot advantage and a 6-4 edge on corner kicks.

Wentworth (2-1-1) hosts Salem State on Tuesday night.
