Gulls Fly Past Men's Soccer

BOSTON, Mass. – Graduate student Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) had a goal and an assist as part of three unanswered goals as the Endicott College men's soccer team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-1.

With the win the Gulls run their win streak to six and unbeaten streak to eight (7-0-1) while improving to 8-4-2 overall and 5-0-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play while the Leopards fall to 5-9-1 (1-4-0).

Wentworth drew first blood, thanks in part to a defensive miscue by Endicott. After a misclear, junior Cameron Pacheco (Woburn, Mass.) came up with the ball and fired a shot from 25 yards out into an open net at 16:50.

Endicott got the equalizer at the 23:19 mark when junior Jon Breed (Atkinson, N.H.) played a ball to junior Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio). Couchot brought the ball in and fired a shot which was deflected by junior keeper Phil Comicki (Dorchester, Mass.), however, still found the back of the net.

While both teams had chances to take a lead, the game remained at 1-all until the 83:56 mark when graduate student Conner Couchot (Mason, Ohio) scored for the Gulls. After a foul, freshman Arian Pilja (Arlington, Mass.) took a free kick which went towards the box. After a scramble, Neukom came up with the ball and fed Connor Couchot, who beat Chomicki to the left side.

Endicott added an insurance goal with 3:16 remaining in the contest as Neukom scored on a direct kick from just outside of the box.

Sophomore Camden Stockdale (Durham, Conn.) picked up the win, making three saves in the second half after coming on in relief of junior Jack Bacon (Lincoln, R.I.) who made a pair of saves in the first half. Chomicki made nine stops for the Black & Gold. Endicott had a 21-8 shot advantage and a7-2 edge on corner kicks.
