HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Just under seven minutes into the game, a foul was called low in the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Junior Nathan Gosselin (Hudson, N.H.) stepped to the spot and gave Wentworth a 1-0 lead.
  • The Leopards had chances to increase their lead, however, could not take advantage of scoring chances. At the 16:07 mark, Lesley tied the game at 1-all when senior Tiago Pacheco (Cranston, R.I.) flicked a header off a senior Shane Rockenbach (Long Beach, Calif.) corner kick inside the right post.
  • Gosselin tallied his second of the contest at 23:12 when classmate John Dauphin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) sent a pass low in the box where Gosselin put a shot home to left side.
  • Wentworth had an 11-4 shot advantage in the first half, with seven of its shot attempts going on net.
  • Despite the Leopards carrying play throughout the second half, the game remained a one-goal tilt until Lesley evened the score at 77:35 when Pacheco threaded a pass to junior Jack Wadleigh (Glastonbury, Conn.), who chipped a shot over sophomore Nick Barner (Westwood, Mass.).
  • Just 36 seconds later, Price gave Wentworth the lead for good when he scored off a feed from sophomore Andrew Collari (Leicester, Mass.).
  • In his first collegiate start, Barner made two saves. Lesley senior Patrick Corcoran (West Hartford, Conn.) took the loss, making three saves in the second half after coming on in relief of senior David Crutchfield, who made five saves in the first half.
  • Wentworth had advantages in shots (23-9) and corner kicks (6-2) while snapping a three-game losing streak with the win.

SERIES NOTES:

  • Tonight marked the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs. Wentworth improved to 7-1-1 all-time against Lesley, running its series winning streak to three and series unbeaten streak to six (5-0-1).
