Men's Tennis Edged by Suffolk

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Suffolk University men's tennis team overcame a 3-0 deficit after doubles play, winning five of the six singles matches as the Rams edged Wentworth, 5-4, in non-conference action.

Junior Andy Chen (New Taipei City, Taiwan) and sophomore Dylan Melnik (Wake Forest, N.C.) gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead with an 8-2 win at number three doubles. Wentworth's lead increased to 2-0 after freshmen James Drum (Madison, Conn.) and Sean Murray (North Brookfield, Mass.) took an 8-3 decision at number two. Seniors Juan Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador) and Dave Filar (Wolcott, Conn.) completed the sweep of the doubles flights with a 9-8 (7-5) win.

The Rams won at numbers three, two, and four singles to pull the match even before Rodriguez earned the Leopards' fourth point of the night with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one singles. However, Suffolk evened the match at 4-all with a win at number six and in the final match of the night, won at number five to take the deciding point.

Wentworth (3-1) hosts Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday.
