Emerson Defeats Men's Tennis, 9-0

BOSTON, Mass. – The Emerson College men's tennis team improved to 7-1 on the season with a 9-0 defeat of Wentworth Institute of Technology (3-4) in a non-conference match played at Harvard University.

Emerson took number one and two doubles by 8-0 and 8-2 scores, respectively, before the Lions number three tandem of Niklas Rhodes (Great Barrington, Mass.) and Matthew Clark (Tenafly, N.J.) edged the Leopards' tandem of freshmen Josh Dowd (Bristol, Conn.) and Gaurav Tilva (Windsor, Conn.), 8-6.

Singles play saw the Lions win three, straight set matches and three matched that need a third set to be decided. Sophomore Dylan Melnik (Wake Forest, N.C.) fell at number four, 6-3, 3-6, 0-1 (6-10), Dowd fell at number five, 6-2, 4-6, 0-1 (10-8), and Tilva lost at number six, 6-1, 4-6, 0-1 (2-10).

Wentworth is back in action on Wednesday as the Leopards travel to Endicott.
