BOSTON, Mass. – After sweeping the three doubles flights, the Endicott College men's tennis team took three of six singles flights as the Gulls doubled up Wentworth, 6-3, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played at Harvard University.
The number three doubles tandem of junior Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and junior Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) got things started for Endicott (4-5, 2-0) as they defeated junior Dylan Melnik (Wake Forest, N.C.) and sophomore Gaurav Tilva (Windsor, Conn.), 8-2. Freshman Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven Mass.) teamed with junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) at number two to defeat freshman Nate Schwartz (Chester Springs, Pa.) and sophomore Josh Dowd (Bristol, Conn.), 8-3. Senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) teamed with sophomore Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) to defeat sophomore James Drum (Madison, Conn.) and freshman Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.), 8-6.
McAndrews defeated Melnik at number five singles, 6-1, 6-2 to give the Gulls a 4-0 lead before junior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) defeated Dowd, 6-4, 6-0, at number six to clinch the match. Ross would defeat Drum at number one, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, to make it a 6-0 lead before the Leopards would record their first points.
Freshman Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) picked up a win at number four when Lauretano retired, Smith defeated Forance in three sets (2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-7) at number two, and Schwartz earned a three-set (6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (7-3)) triumph at number three.
Wentworth (2-4, 1-3) plays UMass Boston at Curry College on Wednesday.
