Roger Williams Defeats Men's Tennis

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team picked up a win in its final Commonwealth Coast Conference match of the regular season, defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology 9-0.

Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) and Eric Bott paired together at #3 doubles for an 8-1 win against Gaurav Tilva (Windsor, Conn.) and Mike Withington (Plymouth, Mass.). Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) and Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) came away with an 8-3 win against James Drum (Madison, Conn.) and Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) at #1 doubles, while Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) and Matthew Russo (Branford, Conn.) followed suit, defeating Josh Dowd (Bristol, Conn.) and Nate Schwartz (Chester Springs, Pa.) 8-5 at #2.

At singles, Schwartz almost gave the Leopards the win at #3, taking the first set 6-4 against Swanson. Yet Swanson was able to rally back, taking the next two sets 6-3 and 1-0 (12-10). Laboissonniere and Schwartz picked up 6-2, 6-0 wins at #2 and #4, respectively, while Andrew Amarone (North Haven, Conn.) claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win at #6.

Roger Williams (11-4, 7-1 CCC) will host Clark University on Monday, while Wentworth (3-7, 2-5 CCC) wraps up the regular season Wednesday against Gordon.
