Men's Tennis Notches First Victory of the Season

WESTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season as the Leopards dispatched of Bridgewater State, 9-0, in a non-conference match played at Regis College.

With the win the Leopards improve to 1-2 on the season while the Bears dropped their season opener.

Juniors Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and Nate Schwartz (Chester Springs, Pa.) kicked things off for Wentworth with an 8-1 win over junior Matt McGee (Warren, R.I.) and junior Chris Jastrub (Chicago, Ill.) at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 junior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) teamed with sophomore Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) for an 8-2 win over junior Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) and senior Andrew Nasciso (East Bridgewater, Mass.). The Leopards competed the sweep at No. 2 when senior James Drum (Madison, Conn.) and sophomore Henry Tittmann (Cambridge, Mass.) defeated junior Michael Delisle (Berkley, Mass.) and freshman Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.), 8-2.

Mutti defeated sophomore Zachary Mutti (Peabody, Mass.), 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6 singles before Schwartz clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Delisle at No. 3. Peter defeated Narciso, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5, Drum defeated Jastrub, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2, Smith bested McGee, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1, and Tittmann completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Haley at No. 4.

Wentworth is at Suffolk on March 24.
