Men's Tennis Cruises Past Suffolk

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team evened its record to 2-2 on the season as the Leopards blanked Suffolk, 9-0, in a match played at Buckingham Browne & Nichols Thursday night.

Juniors Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and Nate Schwartz (Chester Springs, Pa.) picked up an 8-4 win over Francesco Saia and Alonso Vela at No. 1 doubles, sophomore Henry Tittmann (Cambridge, Mass.) teamed with junior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) to earn an 8-1 win at No. 2 over Jacob Duggan and Chris Parnagian while sophomore Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and junior James Thomas (Lakeville, Mass.) won at No. 3, 8-6, over Anton Boubnov.

In singles play, Smith defeated Vela, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1, Tittmann earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Saia at No. 2, Schwartz needed three sets to defeat Parnagian at No. 3 (4-6, 7-6 (6-2), 1-0 (10-8)), Peter defeated Duggan at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0, Ly swept Boubnov at No. 5, 6-0, 6-4, and junior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Keith Clavijo at No. 6.

Wentworth opens Commonwealth Coast Conference play on Tuesday night against Endicott in a match scheduled to be played at Regis College.
