Men's Tennis Shut Out at Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team collected its sixth straight victory with a 9-0 shutout over Wentworth Institute of Technology Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles without dropping a set. Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) and Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) defeated James Drum (Madison, Conn.) and Henry Tittmann at the top flight while Fred Clifford (Duxbury, Mass.) and Grant Rosenberg (Melville, N.Y.) defeated Josh Dowd (Bristol, Conn.) and Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) at No. 2. Andrew Amarone (North Haven, Conn.) and Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) earned the third win for RWU, picking up an 8-4 victory against Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and Mike Withington (Plymouth, Mass.) at No. 3.

At singles, Laboissonniere and Clifford each won the matches at the top two flights by 6-0, 6-0 scores, with Laboissonniere over Drum at No. 1 and Clifford over Tittman at No. 2. Rosenberg won his match at No. 3, 7-5, 6-1 against Ly while Spoor defeated Peter, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4. Amarone and Stratton Stilianos (Lynnfield, Mass.) each earned their second conference wins of the year at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Amarone won 6-4, 6-0 over Dowd and Stilianos beat James Thomas (Lakeville, Mass.) 6-0, 6-1

Roger Williams (9-2, 4-0 CCC) heads to Gordon on Saturday in a showdown for first place in the CCC, while Wentworth (3-6, 1-4 CCC) takes on Nichols on the same day.
