Roger Williams Sweeps Men's Tennis

WESTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played at Regis College.

With the win the Hawks improve to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 2-3 (1-2).

Doubles play saw freshman Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) defeat senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.), 8-3, at No. 3. At No. 2, freshman Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) and senior Matthew Russo (Branford, Conn.) picked up an 8-5 win over junior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) before sophomore Nick Spoor (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) teamed with freshman Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) for an 8-5 win over senior Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.).

At No. 5 singles O'Leary Defeated Dang, 6-1, 6-1, before Russo clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Peter at No. 4.

White earned a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Tocco at No. 2, Feldman bested Mularski, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6, senior Alex Bonnano (Westford, mass.) defeated Ly, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3, and Cole needed three sets to defeat Smith at No. 1, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Wentworth is at Bridgewater State Monday.
