Men's Tennis Falls to Endicott in Season Finale

MIDDLETON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team wrapped up its season on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 loss to Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played indoors at the Northeast Tennis Center.

With the win the Gulls improve to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in CCC play while the leopards fall to 3-9 (2-6) and just miss a berth in the CCC Tournament.

The duo of junior Nicholas Eherts (New Milford, Conn.) and freshman Jack DeRizzo (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles over senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.). At No. 2 doubles, freshman Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) and senior Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) took an 8-1 win over junior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.). Endicott took a 3-0 lead after junior Chris Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) and sophomore Keaton McCleary (Charlotte, N.C.) won at No. 1, 8-4, over senior Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.).

Singles play saw Kirkpatrick defeat Smith at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1, before Toler's 6-3, 6-2 win over Ly at No. 3 clinched the match for the Gulls.

Freshman Thomas Brent (Gorhan, Maine) defeated Peter at No.4, 6-2, 6-4; freshman Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) defeated Tocco at No. 2, 6-4, 6-4, sophomore Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) took an 8-2 decision from Mularski at No. 6, and freshman Jack DeRizzo (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was a 6-0, 6-3 victor over Dang at No. 5.
