Men's Tennis Rallies Past Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – Freshman Tristan Maus' (Mansfield, Mass.) straight-set win at No. 6 singles completed a comeback for the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team which wrapped up its fall campaign with a 5-4 win over Salve Regina in a non-conference match between the two Commonwealth Coast Conference foes.

With the win the win the Leopards improve to 1-1 on the season while the Seahawks fall to 0-2.

Wentworth took a 2-1 lead after the three doubles flights, however, it was Salve Regina which got on the board first as sophomore Trevor Jones (South Hamilton, Mass.) and freshman Will Chasse (Greenville, R.I.) defeated Maus and freshman Matt Roberts (Westfield, Mass.), 8-3. The Leopards claimed the next two doubles flights, beginning with freshman Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) teaming with senior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) to defeat senior Will Masse (Wyoming, R.I.) and sophomore Aaron White (Falmouth, Maine) at No. 2, 8-6. Freshman Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) gave the Black & Gold a 2-1 lead with an 8-5 triumph over junior D.J. Bisaillon (Watertown, Conn.) and senior Kevin Brocks (Albany, N.Y.) at No. 1.

Chasse defeated Roberts at No. 5, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 to tie the match at 2-all and Bisaillon defeated Mularski, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 to give the hosts a 3-2 lead. North bested Jones, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4, giving Wentworth the lead it would not relinquish. Ly defeated Brooks, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2, before Maus' 6-1, 6-4 win over junior Zach Monahan (Stoughton, Mass.) at No. 6 clinched the match. Masse defeated Hall at No. 1, 4-6, 6-1, 13-11.
