Men's Tennis Swept by Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College men's tennis team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play and didn't look back as the Gulls defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 5-0, at the Bass River Tennis Club.

With the win Endicott improves to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 3-6 (1-3).

No. 1 doubles saw senior Chris Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.) team with sophomore Charles Book (Devon, Pa.) for an 8-4 win over Wentworth senior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.). At No. 3 doubles, junior Anthony Rinaldi (Attleboro Falls, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Leighton (North Reading, Mass.) defeated freshman Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.), 8-5. Endicott completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 2 as sophomore Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) and sophomore Justin Toler (Concord, N.H.) picked up an 8-4 win over sophomore Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) and freshman Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas), 8-4.

Junior Ozan Cermik (Cumberland, R.I.) gave the Gulls a 4-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Maus at No. 5 before Rinaldi clinched the win with a 6-1, 6-0 win over freshman Matt Roberts (Westfield, Mass.). Four matches went unfinished at the time Endicott reached the decision point, including No. 4 singles where Ly dropped the first set, 4-6, and was ahead in the second set, 2-1.
