Nichols Halts Men's Tennis' Win Streak

WESTON, Mass. – Winning two of three doubles matches and not dropping a set in all six singles matches, the Nichols College men's tennis team won its 15th consecutive match at the Bison defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 8-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon.

The Bison improve to 16-2 overall and remain undefeated (7-0) in CCC play while the Leopards see their two-match win streak come to a halt, falling to 5-8 (2-5).

Freshman Brandon Stewart (Gainesville, Fla.) and junior Aidan Stuart (Orange, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-0 win over Wentworth sophomore Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) and senior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles. The Bison increased their lead to 2-0 when the No. 1 doubles tandem of junior Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) and freshman August Moeller (Hellerup, Denmark) defeated senior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.). Wentworth cut the lead to 2-1, thanks to an 8-4 win at No. 3 by freshmen Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) and Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) over freshman Baylen Harper (Leicester, Mass.) and freshman Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.)

Freshman Nicholas Bezada (Lima, Peru) put the Bison ahead 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over freshman Matt Roberts (Westfield, Mass.) at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Brandon Howard (Hamden, Conn.) defeated Tocco, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 to make it 4-1 before sophomore Jack Donaldson (Easton, Md.) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 over Mularski.

Sophomore Peter Coletti (Beverly, Mass.) defeated Maus at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0, Norton topped Hall at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1, and Moeller closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over North at No. 3.

Wentworth concludes its season Tuesday at Roger Williams.
