Men's Tennis Overtakes Bears to Win Third Straight Match

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and junior Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) teamed to win at No. 1 doubles and each won their respective singles matches as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team downed Bridgewater State, 7-2, in non-conference action.

Winners of three in a row, the Leopards, who have outscored their opponents 23-4 in the last three matches, improve to 4-6 on the season while the Bears fall to 1-1.

Hall and Mularski kicked things off for the Black & Gold with an 8-0 win over sophomore William Jones (Wrexham, United Kingdom) and senior Alexander Belinsky (Norton, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles. Wentworth took a 2-0 lead when sophomore Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) teamed with junior Mun Chet (Braintree, Mass.) to claim an 8-3 triumph over junior Joshua Bean (Kingston, Mass.) and freshman Kendan DeBlois (Hadley, N.Y.) at No. 3. Bridgewater State cut the lead to 2-1 when sophomore Jeff Pavao (Somerset, Mass.) and freshman Colin Lamusta (Lynnfield, Mass.) doubled up sophomores Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) and Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.), 8-4, at No. 2.

Maus gave the Leopards a 3-1 lead when he defeated Bean, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 4 singles, however, DeBlois made it 3-2 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over sophomore Rahul Bahl (Brookline, Mass.) at No. 6. Hall earned a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Jones to make it 4-2 before North clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Pavao at No. 2. Mularski dropped the first set to Lamusta, 4-6, however rebounded to win the next two, 7-6 (7-5), 10-6, while Maki dropped the first set to Belinsky, 1-6, before winning 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5.

Wentworth is at Lesley on Thursday night.
