Gordon Races Past Men's Tennis

WENHAM, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's team was defeated by Gordon, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Fighting Scots improve to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 6-9 (1-3).

Gordon's number three doubles tandem of sophomore Will Jeffreys (Parkton, Md.) and sophomore Richard Ryzi (Littleton, Mass.) picked up an 8-1 win over Wentworth sophomores Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and Taymour Mansi (Alexandria, Egypt). At No. 1, senior Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) and junior Jonathan Frank (La Crescenta, Calif.) defeated sophomores Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) and Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.). The doubles sweep was completed when senior Kristopher Marineau (Auburn, N.H.) and freshman Patrick Monahan (Richland, Wash.) teamed up to defeat sophomore Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and junior Mun Chet (Brookline, Mass.), 8-3.

Jeffreys defeated Maki at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0, before Marineau clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Maus at No. 3. Lookwhy defeated Hall, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1, Frink topped North, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2, Monahan defeated Chet, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5, while Ryzi was a 7-6 (10-8), 6-1 winner over freshman Samuel Ferro (Whitman, Mass.).

Wentworth hosts Western New England on Saturday.
