Roger Williams Soars Past Men's Tennis

WESTON, Mass. – In its penultimate home match of the 2019 season, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at the hands of Roger Williams.

With the win the Hawks improve to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 6-10 (1-4).

Junior Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) and sophomore Jared Deibe (Oakland, N.J.) teamed up to defeat sophomore Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) and Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Freshman Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) and freshman Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) were victorious at No. 3, defeating sophomore Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and sophomore Rahul Bahl (Brookline, Mass.), 8-0. Junior Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) and junior Miles Conlin (Branford, Conn.) picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 over junior Mun Chet (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.).

O'Leary gave Roger Williams a 4-0 lead when he defeated Maki, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4, setting the stage for junior Jake Cole (Sterling, Va.) to clinch the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Chet at No. 5. At No. 1, White defeated Hall, 6-1, 6-0, Deibe was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over North at No. 2, junior Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bahl at No. 6, and Tocco defeated Maus, 6-4, 6-1, at No.3.

Wentworth hosts Western New England on Tuesday night.
