Men's Tennis Sees Season Come to a Close

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team wrapped up the 2018-2019 campaign with a 9-0 loss to Nichols on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win the Bison improve to 13-6 overall and finish Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 7-0 record while the Leopards fall to 6-12 (1-6). The six wins for the Black & Gold are the most since the 2012-2013 season.

Junior Peter Coletti (Beverly, Mass.) and senior Igor Markowski (Paris, France) picked up an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles over sophomores Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and Rahul Bahl (Brookline, Mass.). At No. 1 doubles, junior Guilherme Barbosa (Bradenton, Fla.) teamed with junior Brandon Howard (Hamden, Conn.) to take an 8-0 win over sophomores Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.). Nichols took a 3-0 lead when seniors Sebastian Penaloza and Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) defeated sophomore Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas) and junior Mun Chet (Braintree, Mass.), 8-1, at No. 2.

Junior Jack Donaldson (Easton, Md.) defeated sophomore Andrew Farrell (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, giving the Bison a 4-0 lead before Coletti clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chet at No. 5. At No. 3, Howard defeated Maus, 6-0, 6-0, Norton defeated Hall at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0, Penaloza bested Maki at No. 4, 6-0, 6-2, while Barbosa defeated North, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2.
