Men's Indoor Track and Field Wraps up 2018-19 Season at DIII New England's

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's indoor track team shut the doors on the 2018-2019 season at the DIII New England Championships Friday and Saturday afternoon at MIT.

"This was a season of growth. We grew in numbers and events this season with many newcomers," said head coach Dan Roark. "With graduating a core group of guys last year, we were still able to compete at a high level and set multiple school records. We set standards for our jumps and throws and should build on that for the coming years."

Highlighting the season of firsts was junior newcomer Joe Aronov (Andover, Mass.), who competed in the pole vault on Friday afternoon. Aronov placed 18th overall in the Championship meet, and cleared 4.02m. Aronov will also compete in next weekend's meet at Tufts University.

Two relay teams joined Aronov across the river in Cambridge, as the Distance Medley Relay team compiled of Tyler Cosma (Center Moriches, N.Y.), Josue Soto Lora (Dorchester, Mass.), Will Allen (West Hartford, Conn.), and Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.) ran a season-best time of 11:04.97. Gangemi, Allen, and Cosma returned to the track on Saturday with Alexis Umana (Revere, Mass.) for the 4x800m relay, and ran 24 seconds faster than their previous relay as a unit with an 8:33 finish.

Aronov will represent the Leopards in the pole vault on Saturday, March 2nd, in the Tufts Final Qualifier Meet in a final attempt to qualify for nationals.
